The purpose of the contest was to develop new mobile applications using data from the Open Government Data Portal of the Republic of Azerbaijan (data.gov.az), ensure convenient use of open government data, provide support for social-oriented and innovative ideas and promote startup projects.
11 groups and 8 individuals participated in the contest.
On 26 November, a presentation of the mobile applications that were developed by the participants for the contest was held in front of the jury, which consisted of specialists from the Data Processing Centre of MTCHT, High Technologies Park LLC under MTCHT, the companies Best Comp Group and Microsoft.
The jury evaluated the mobile applications based on such criteria as social significance, functionality, completeness, design and content.
The contest participants used mostly the open government data of the State Statistical Committee, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for developing their mobile applications.
By the decision of the jury the team "Plus Group" took the 1st place, "The Dev Squad" - the 2nd place, "No Name" – the 3rd place.
The winners of the 1st, 2nd and the 3rd places received cash prizes from DPC in the amount of 2,000 AZN, 1,500 AZN and 1,000 AZN, respectively.
The winners were also awarded cups and diplomas. In addition, each participant was given an electronic signature certificate.
Within the Microsoft BizSpark project, all students participating in the competition were given an opportunity to use desktop programs, and server and cloud solutions from Microsoft.
Additionally, the winners of the 1st and 2nd places will be given the opportunity to use an office in the incubation center of the High Technologies Park free of charge for 6 months.
The guests participating in the event stressed that the development of the open information industry has started in our country. It was also noted that young people’s interest in this field has increased in recent years and that such competitions and projects motivate young people.

Winners of "See, Use, Create!" mobile apps development contest awarded
