Now in its twelfth consecutive year, the Olympiad is dedicated to May 17 - World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.
The purpose of the Olympiad is raising the level of knowledge of students of higher educational institutions in the field of computer science, programming, their growing interest in this area, as well as involvement of winners in the international Olympiads.
The Olympiad will be held in two stages. Before the start of the first stage, teams representing higher educational institutions of the republic will be registered on the website of the Olympiad (www.olimpiada.az) within one month. Teams consisting of one teacher (as a leader) and three students (bachelors) who have been registered are entitled to participate in the first stage of the Olympiad. Four teams from each university are allowed to participate in the first stage of the Olympiad.
Over the past 11 years, on average each year 40-50 teams from 10-15 higher educational institutions (160-200 participants) participated in the first stage of the Olympiad.
This year 62 teams from 25 universities of the country have been registered on the website www.olimpiada.az to participate in the competition. Along with the students studying in the universities in the capital, this year students of state universities of Ganja, Mingachevir, Nakhchivan, Sumgayit and Lankaran, Azerbaijan Technological University, as well as Azerbaijan State Agrarian University showed a special interest in participating in the Olympiad.
The first stage of the Olympiad took place in the Baku Engineering University on April 29, 2018.
The Olympiad is held under the rules of International ACM / ICPC (International Olympiad in Informatics among students of higher educational institutions). According to the terms of the competition, only one team from each institution, which shows the highest score, qualifies to the final stage of the Olympiad. Four teams showing best results in the final will be announced winners.
The winners (I-IV places) will be awarded valuable prizes from companies Nar and BestComp Group, as well as honorary certificates and diplomas of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.
For information, the next (final) stage of the Olympiad will be held at the Institute of Information Technologies of ANAS on May 5, 2018.
