Azerbaijan initiates development of educational content
Azerbaijan has reached a new level of the educational process, based on information and communication technologies (ICTs).
Deputy Education Minister Gulu Novruzov says that in countries of Africa, South and East Asia where the question of ICT education of teachers is a big problem in the absence of ICT infrastructure and financial resources for its creation, the UNESCO Institute of Information Technologies in Education pays great attention to this problem, but Azerbaijan does not experience problems in this area.
"Work on preparing the appropriate infrastructure of ICT in education has been conducted and the time is ripe of transfer to a new stage of development.
Special ICT training has been passed since 2007 by about 60,000 teachers, 8,000 employees of administrative staff of educational institutions (directors, deputy directors of schools), 1,500 employees of technical staff. Now, there has appeared a matter of educational content based on ICT technologies, in particular development of training manuals, programs, etc," he said.
According to the deputy minister, the country spends substantial finances for education sector within state programs, building of new schools, creation of modern infrastructure, and provision of technical equipment, but in the absence of qualified staff and appropriate training programs all this will hardly give any effect.
