The installation of necessary equipment throughout the capital was completed as part of the first phase and currently work is underway on its optimisation and compatibility with the system. 'The system will fully work following the completion of the optimisation work which is planned within the next few months', according to the center. Work on the project is in three phases.
The first covers Baku city, the second phase will cover the whole Absheron peninsula and work within the third phase are on major highways of the country. The intellectual transport management system costing more than $95 million was launched in December last year.
After running all three phases, the system will be controlled from the centre in Baku. The creation of the system involves the installation of 664 units of information terminals and 48 information boards which were posted on the streets of Baku. It was planned to create about 639 sites for bus stops and about 140 sites for taxis.
Azerbaijani Transport Ministry completes first phase of intellectual transport management system
