The first phase of registration has already been completed. A total of 479 applications from 37 countries (207 – from 15 countries of Asia, 169 – from 14 countries of Europe, 39 – from 3 countries of America, 23 – from 2 countries of Oceania, and 41 – from 3 countries of Africa) were submitted to the International e-Sports Federation for participation in computer game tournaments.
34 federations submitted applications for participation the “League of Legends” tournament, 30 – for participation in the “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” tournament, and 35 – for the “Hearthstone” tournament.
The second stage of registration to the championship will be held from July 1 to September 4. During this period, the participating federations will hold national qualifying tournaments to form national teams.
Note that the eSports Federation of Azerbaijan has applied for participation in all the three official tournaments. Registration for participation in the championship is now underway. Applicants can familiarize themselves with the terms and conditions of registration on the official Facebook page of the eSports Federation of Azerbaijan.
It should be also noted that in 2014 Azerbaijan hosted the 6-th e-Sports World Championship Baku 2014, during which gamers from more than 30 countries competed in 6 game tournaments.
The e-Sports World Championship is the only international e-sports event to provide for participation of national teams. This year it will be held on the same platform with TAFISA World Games. During the tournament, the International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) will show that eSports is part of something bigger that gives the younger generation the opportunity to show their best side. Becoming a part of the Elite Sport will help IeSF to gain the recognition of SportAccord and the International Olympic Committee.
Who will represent Azerbaijan at the World Championship on computer games?
