Samsung officially unveils the Galaxy A8 (2016)

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy A8 (2016) in South Korea, after the smartphone's manual, specs and even some images leaked in the past few weeks. The smartphone has roughly the same design as its predecessors, including a full metal body.

The Galaxy A8 (2016) appears to come with Always On Display, which was introduced earlier this year on one of the company's flagships, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

Galaxy A8 (2016) appears to come with a 5.7-inch Full HD display and runs Samsung's Exynos 7420 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM. Internal storage reaches about 32GB and the smartphone has a 16MP rear camera, with an 8MP camera in the front for snapping selfies and conducting video calls.

Moreover, battery capacity reaches 3,500mAh and the smartphone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. The device comes with a fingerprint scanner and support for Samsung Pay.

Its predecessor, the Galaxy A8, was unveiled last year in July and featured a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, and either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory. Rear camera capacity was the same as on this year's model, but the front camera had only 5MP.

Samsung's carrier partners in South Korea will start taking pre-orders for the smartphone soon. The device will be made available in a blue color variant starting October 1 from SK Telecom and it's quite uncertain if it will be sold in other countries as well.

The Galaxy A8 (2016) carries a price tag of about $580, and customers who pre-order before October 4 will receive a free phone case, a screen protector, and a microSD card.
