During the exhibition CEATEC 2016 Sharp introduced the display for the virtual reality helmets with a density of 1008 pixels per inch, according to Anandtech.
The screen has a diagonal of only 2.87 inches and a resolution of 2160x1920. For example, one display of a virtual reality helmet Oculus Rift has a resolution of 1080х1200 pixels and a density of 456 dots per inch. However, the company is not yet ready for mass production of such display, and commercial samples will only appear in a few years.
Sharp also demonstrated the first prototypes of 8K display: 85-inch TV and a 27 inch monitor. Both devices are equipped with IGZO panel with a resolution of 7680 to 4320 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
8K — resolution, which is regarded as the successor to the current standard of ultra high definition 4K (and surpasses it about two times on each side of the frame). At the moment the technology is not supported for any TV, but in August 2016 the Japanese TV channel started broadcasting in 8K resolution.
