The Acer Swift 7 features a 13.3-inch IPS LED-backlit display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection and a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, boasting Acer Color Intelligence for "brilliant and vivid colors with less CPU loading." Speaking of CPU, the laptop packs a seventh-generation Intel Core i5-7Y54 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz (Turbo Boost up to 3.2 GHz), paired with Intel HD Graphics 615, 8 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a 256 GB SSD.
The ultrathin notebook also promises to deliver a long battery life thanks to its 2,770 mAh battery, lasting for up to nine hours of use on a single charge. Other specs include two built-in stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 2x2 MU-MIMO technology (dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.0, USB Type-C, power and DisplayPort over USB Type-C, two USB 3.0 ports (one of which supports power-off charging) and an HD webcam with HDR support. On the software side, the Swift 7 runs Windows 10.
The ultrabook is also ultra-portable, tipping the scale at just 2.48 pounds (1.125 kilograms). In terms of design, the Acer Swift 7 sports a black and gold color scheme that may seem stylish to some or too flashy to others.
The Acer Swift 7 SF713-51-MJ90J is now available for purchase in the United States, either directly from Acer or from various retailers. Acer is selling the device at $1,099.99. Best Buy lists it at $1,049.99, but it's already "sold out online," while Amazon lists it at $999.99, also "temporarily out of stock."
The SF713-51-MJ90J is just the first configuration available, but Acer says that more Swift 7 models will hit the scene in the coming weeks. The available model is likely the base one, with upcoming versions possibly touting upgraded specifications at higher price points.
Overall, the Acer Swift 7 seems like an attractive ultrabook, but its impressive thinness and lightness might also make the device quite fragile. Those looking for a little more oomph might be interested in Acer's Predator 21 X gaming laptop with a 21-inch curved display, unveiled in late August at IFA 2016.
