Microsoft launches world's first personal universal translator for smartphones

After introducing the Skype Translator for calls to mobiles and landlines, Microsoft announced the world's first personal universal translator. The Microsoft Translator works in real-time and is supposed to translate in-person conversations with up to 100 speakers using their own smartphone, tablet, or PC.

Basically, users will be able to communicate in different languages face to face using their own language on their own device. The new personal universal translator comes with a couple of interesting features that tries to cover all possible scenarios.

For example, you will be able to join a conversation regardless of the language you speak. This comes in handy to those who travel a lot internationally, as they will be able to meet the locals and make new friends much easier.

According to Microsoft, its Translator live preview feature is available starting this week in the respective apps for Android, iOS and Amazon Fire. In addition, the translator is available online on the dedicated website.
