You can now edit images, insert headers, and more in Google Docs for Android

Google is currently rolling out an update to Google Docs on Android which gives you a lot more editing power when working on documents while mobile. These include the ability to resize, move, and rotate images, drag and drop text, and even insert headers and footers straight from your phone or tablet…

Introduced on Google’s G Suite website, these updates coming to Docs makes it just a little bit easier to edit your files when you aren’t sitting at an actual computer. The new image editing tools can be found in a newly introduced “Image” tab. This should appear when you have an image selected. Here, you can also add or customize a border around your photograph.

Dragging and dropping text is just as simple and it sounds. Simply highly the words or sentences that you would like to move, tap down on it, and drag it to your desired location. If you would like to add a header or footer, all you have to do is tap in the upper or lower part of the display. While tricky to achieve on a small smartphone display, when it does work, a light line will appear separating the body text from the new sections.

In addition to the changes coming to the Docs application for Android, Google Docs for iOS (iPhone and iPad) is also getting its own share of feature updates. These include the ability to insert headers and footers, inserting page numbers in the headers and footers, and the ability to change a page’s size, orientation, and color.

Google Sheets for iOS will also be updated with the ability to add and edit solid, dashed, and dotted borders.

This Google Docs update is currently rolling out to users now but if you don’t want to wait, you can head on over to APKMirror to download the latest APK. If you need help manually installing it, you can check out our tutorial on sideloading APKs.
