Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 features eight-core Cortex-A53 with four cores clocked at high-speed and four lower-clocked cores. The graphics chip to support this new processor will be Adreno 508 which is an updated version of Adreno 506 used in the Snapdragon 625. Although the 14nm built process has been retained in the new GPU, it is comparatively faster.
The Snapdragon 630 also comes with support for Bluetooth 5.0, Quick Charge 4.0, USB 3.1 with USB-C. It will also offer support for LTE speeds up to 600Mhz with 3x carrier aggregation and an enhanced camera experience with the new Spectra 160 image signal processor.
Aimed at powering the lower mid-range phones, the Snapdragon 630 processor will enter the market in the third quarter of this year.
The second chipset announced by Qualcomm brings in massive improvements over its predecessors Snapdragon 650, 652 and 653. It features eight Kryo cores which are 30 percent faster than Snapdragon 653 cores. Four cores perform at 2.2GHz while the other four are clocked at 1.8GHz. The most important change is in the built which has been switched from 28nm process to a 14nm process.
One of the prominent features is the battery savings which the new processor brings, akin to what we saw in the Snapdragon 625.
The new Snapdragon 660 gets a new Adreno 512 GPU which has been upgraded from the Adreno 510 GPU used in its predecessor. Coupled with the new GPU, the Snapdragon 660 comes with support for X12 baseband which includes speeds of up to 600Mhz with 3x carrier aggregation, as well as Bluetooth 5.0, Quick Charge 4.0, USB 3.1 support. Like Snapdragon 630, 660 also brings better camera experience with support for 4K capture and electronic image stabilization.
Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 660 and 630 processors
Qualcomm has added two new chips to its 600-series — Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 660. The former is successor to Snapdragon 625 (and SD626) while the latter succeeds the Snapdragon 650 (and 653).Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 features eight-core Cortex-A53 with four cores clocked at high-speed and four lower-clocked cores.
