The company E Ink demonstrated a flexible display e-ink

The company E Ink involved in the development of the eponymous technology displays, has demonstrated a prototype flexible screen e-ink, which in future will allow manufacturers to produce a folded-in e-books.

Note that the prototype of the screen with a diagonal of 10.2 inches and a pixel density of 220 ppi were demonstrated at the exhibition SID Display Week, which was held in Los Angeles in late May, however, the media drew attention to the development just now.

Presented at the company’s booth, the prototype was enclosed in a folding cover, resembling a book. Like all displays, working on electronic ink, it consumes power only when updating content and generally looks readable. In this edition PCMag draws attention to two conspicuous lack of display. The first of these is that the screen has a glossy surface, and the second is the lack of flexibility – the prototype has a relatively large bending radius and cannot be folded in half like a sheet of paper.

If the company will be able to save the prototype from these flaws, it is very likely that in the foreseeable future the market will be ebooks new format, released by different companies.

Published on the YouTube channel Charbax video shows not only this flexible display, but a number of other samples of various shapes and sizes. Also, video allows you to see the other developments on the E Ink stand, including changing the color of a dress, a wall-mounted touch screen e-ink and a credit card with an integrated display, which shows you the information about balance and transactions.
