Android remains the most popular operating system for smartphones. In the coming years, the dominance of the Google platform will continue, and its share will reach about 85%. This is stated in the study of the International Data Corporation (IDC).
According to experts’ forecasts, 1.24 billion Android-smartphones will be released in 2018, which is 0.5% less than a year earlier. The share of devices was 84.8%, while iOS will have about 15.1% of smart phone shipments. It is expected that this year Apple will ship 221.4 million units, increasing the last year’s figure by 2.6%. The share of the remaining platforms will be only 0.1%.
The report says that in the period from 2018 to 2022, Android smartphone sales will increase globally by 2.5% and will exceed 1.4 billion units by the end of this period, Dailycomm.ru reports.
