According to today's report, the new Palm device will be a Verizon exclusive and the rumored specs include a 3.3-inch LCD display carrying a 720p HD resolution. Powering the handset will reportedly be the Snapdragon 435 Mobile Platform, which features an octa-core CPU running at 1.4GHz and the Adreno 505 GPU. Other leaked specs include 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. Keeping the lights on will supposedly be a small 800mAh capacity battery. "Pepito" is expected to launch sans a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Android 8.1 will be pre-installed. Assuming that the leaked specs are legitimate, is there a market for a phone like this in 2018?
The last Palm branded phone released was the Palm Pre 2 in October 2010. By the time that model was launched, Palm had already been purchased by HP and the latter decided to use its own branding on the third generation Pre. WebOS, the highly regarded operating system used on the Pre, is now owned by LG. The Korean manufacturer uses the OS on a line of smart televisions.

A Palm Ventures Group device with the model number PVG100 was certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance and revealed that TCL, the current owner of the Palm name, was planning on bringing the brand back into the marketplace.
