Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Announced With 6GB Of RAM & Snapdragon 660

Xiaomi has introduced a new mid-range smartphone that has been rumored for a while now, the Mi 8 Lite. This device obvious belongs in the Mi 8 lineup, even though it’s considerably inferior to the Xiaomi Mi 8. This phone is referred to as ‘Youth Edition’ in China, and unlike the Mi 8, it is fueled by a mid-range processor, even though it resembles its sibling quite a bit in terms of the design. The Mi 8 Lite is made out of metal and glass, it sports two horizontally-aligned cameras on the back, while the phone’s fingerprint scanner is placed right below those two cameras and an LED flash. The company’s logo is included on the back as well, while the phone sports a display notch, and that notch is smaller than the one on the Mi 8. A thin ‘chin’ is placed below the phone’s display, and that’s pretty much it as far as bezels are concerned.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite features a 6.26-inch fullHD+ (2280 x 1080) display with a 2.5D curved glass. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 660 64-bit octa-core processor, while it sports 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, depending on which variants you opt to get. The 4GB RAM model comes with 64GB of storage, while the 6GB RAM variant is available in both 64GB and 128GB storage flavors. Two SIM card slots are included here as well, while Android 8.1 Oreo comes pre-installed on the phone, with Xiaomi’s MIUI skin on top of it. A 3,350mAh battery is included in this package as well, and it’s not removable. Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging can quickly recharge the Mi 8 Lite’s battery, and the phone supports Dual 4G LTE connectivity. 12-megapixel (Sony’s IMX363 sensor, 1.4um pixel size, f/1.9 aperture) and 5-megapixel (Samsung’s S5K5E8 sensor, 1.12um pixel size) cameras are included on the back of this phone, while you will find a 24-megapixel (Sony’s IMX576 sensor, 1.8um pixel size) camera on the phone’s front side.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite comes in Aurora Blue, Midnight Black, and Sunset Blue color variants, and its three variants are priced at 1,399 Yuan ($204), 1,699 Yuan ($248), and 1,999 Yuan ($290) in China. The phone is already available for pre-order in Xiaomi’s homeland, and it will go on sale starting on September 25. It is still unclear whether the device will hit other markets, but it will probably arrive in Europe and some other markets Xiaomi is active in.
