"Due to the rapid socio-economic development of Azerbaijan, UNICEF remains committed to the ideology, which is that all children have the same opportunities, equal chances and equal respect for their rights: "To mark the 25th anniversary of UNICEF’s activities and partnership in Azerbaijan, for the sake of every child, we are pleased to accept this gift from the government.
The silhouette of a child standing under an umbrella is reflected on the postage stamp. Special edition of postage stamps that issued in limited quantities can be purchased at branches and post offices, as well as Shebeke service centers.
Azerbaijan is one of the first countries in the world to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992. And the foundation of the first UNICEF program in the country was laid in 1993.
During this period, working together with the government, civil society and local communities, UNICEF has made a serious contribution to progress for the sake of children and women in Azerbaijan. Areas of its activities include the use of iodized salt to help turn Azerbaijan into a country free of poliomyelitis and reduce other preventable diseases, delay their spread in the country, bring primary school performance to more than 90%, introduce preliminary training programs for five-year-olds and reduce the number of children in state child institutions is 50%.
It should be noted that UNICEF supports the rights and welfare of each child in all its activities. For the practical implementation of this commitment, the Fund together with its partners carries out activities in 190 countries of the world.
Special postage stamp dedicated to 25th anniversary of Azerbaijans partnership with UNICEF and children issued
A commemorative postage stamp dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the partnership of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNUCEF) with the government of Azerbaijan has been issued.
