Safer Internet Day was established in 2004 by the decision of the European Commission and is celebrated annually every Tuesday of the second week of February.
The goal of the International Safe Internet Day, which is being held this year under the slogan “Together for a better internet”, is to promote safer and more responsible use of online technologies and mobile phones around the world, especially among children and young people.
Digital technologies have become part of our daily lives. Therefore, ensuring security on the Internet is one of the most pressing requirements of the modern era. This can be achieved, in the first place, through increasing positive content and informing ordinary users about the basics of security.
Since 2005, the non-profit organization Insafe (European Safer Internet Network) has been the main coordinator of Safer Internet Day in the world. The member-states of the European Union, as well as Iceland, Norway and Russia, are members of Insafe.
This year, the international Safe Internet Day is celebrated in about 130 countries around the world, including Azerbaijan.
