NASA Announces Landing on Mars by 2030

Humans and robots will test the reliability of the existing technique in a new mission aimed at landing on Mars in mid-2030, the U.S. Space Agency (NASA) announced Tuesday.

NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine told reporters that for the expedition to succeed, it is necessary to test the technology on the moon first.

On the date of landing on Mars, he explained that 'there is still much to be done and the most urgent goal is to keep a sustainable presence on the natural satellite.

Bridenstine assured this is not a temporary project, to be dropped in the short term, but will have international and commercial partners who will collaborate in the development of the technology to be implemented.

The official insisted that the main difference between an expedition to the Moon and Mars is that the first is reached in three days while there is only one opportunity every 26 months to travel to the second.

Travelling to the red planet means a two-year stay on its surface, he added.
