Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade noted that the national final is being held in order to prepare for the International Drone Olympics, which will be held this year in Korea.
The Deputy Minister stressed that along with Baku city, today mechanisms of robotics, development and management of drones are taught in some regions of the country within the framework of the project Robopark, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies. According to him, in recent years, special attention is paid to this area in our country:
“The involvement of students in this process at an early age is very important in terms of training of specialists. I hope that the winning teams in today’s competition will decently represent our country at the International Drone Olympics.”
In his turn, Deputy Minister of Youth and Tourism Intigam Babayev noted that the Drone Olympics is relating to the types of intellectual competitions. He expressed satisfaction with the fact that his ministry provides support for such Olympics.
60 students (between 7 and 12 years old) from public and private secondary schools of Baku and Sumgayit city competed to become most successful pilot. The competition was held in three categories: Drone Race, Drone Football and Drone Challenge.
Thus, the first place in the category Drone Race was taken by Polad Ismayilli, the second place – Javanshir Hajihasanli, the third place – Eldar Mustafayev. In the category Drone Football, the first three places were taken by Eldar Mustafayev and Narmin Mammadova, Ali Mammadguliyev and Nihad Garayev, Fatima Aliyeva and Kanan Ibrahimli. In the category Drone Challenge, Eldar Mustafayev, Ali Mammadguliyev and Omar Hajihasanli won the first three places, respectively.
The winners of the first three places in each category were awarded certificates and prizes.
The winners were awarded the first drone pilot certificates in Azerbaijan.
