The MOST has placed priority on the development of user-end chips featuring low power consumption and low heat dissipation, technologies for integrating mmWave multi-band antennas, components, and electric circuits, including those for integrating AiP (antenna in package) and power amplifiers, receivers and transmitters.
In addition, the focus will also be put on developing broadband transmitting and receiving system for B5G small base stations, RF receivers for mobile devices, and high-end modulation technology and design for multi-tasking antennas.
Also among academic research projects wanted by the science ministry are the development of physical architectures, algorithms and components for Terahertz band communications and radar systems for 6G applications.
MOST noted that initial goals set for 6G academic research projects are to materialize 10-100Gbps user transmission speed as well as the transmission of 100-1000 simultaneous independently-modulated beams.
Taiwan moving to develop B5G, 6G tech
Despite 5G applications still at a budding stage, Taiwan's Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) is actively seeking B5G (beyond 5G) and 6G academic research projects aiming to meet tech demand by 2030, according to ministry sources. The MOST has placed priority on the development of user-end chips featuring low power consumption and low heat dissipation, technologies for integrating mmWave multi-band antennas, components, and electric circuits, including those for integrating AiP (antenna in package) and power amplifiers, receivers and transmitters.
