The event was jointly organized by Vugar Gashimov Chess Academy and Buta Palace complex at the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The company Bakcell was a chief sponsor of the chess tournament, which was organized with the aim of popularizing chess in the country.
20 teams representing state and private organizations participated in the competition. Each team consisted of two players.
The tournament was organized under the rules of the International Chess Federation (FIDE). Only amateur chess players took part in the competition, which was held according to the Swiss system. The games were supervised by professional referees.
The team of the Ministry Transport, Communications and High Technologies (MTCHT) won the first place in the tournament, which was held in the atmosphere of fierce rivalry.
