In 2018, more than half of the smartphones sold in the world were equipped with two or more cameras. In 2019, manufacturers went further – smartphones with three or more main cameras on their back panels are becoming more and more popular.
According Counterpoint Technology Market Research, almost 6% of smartphones that were sold last year across the world had more than two cameras.
It is expected that in 2019 the penetration rate of such devices will increase to 15%, and by the end of next year the 35% mark will be surpassed. Analysts believe that in 2021, half of all smartphones in the market will have more than two built-in cameras.
Counterpoint says that in the second half of 2019, of smartphone manufacturers will release models equipped with 64 megapixel resolution cameras, and in 2020 they will release devices with 100-megapixel cameras.
By 2021, 50% of smartphones will be equipped with triple cameras
