Innovation Festival is organized with the view of forming the startup movement in the Republic of Azerbaijan, supporting the realization of youth business ideas, the promotion of innovations and technologies and the implementation of new innovative ideas, as well as the formation of traditions of creating business incubation centers in regions by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 20, 2016 on implementation of the relevant provisions of the Action Plan of the State Program for the implementation of the National Strategy on Information Society Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2016-2020.
Within the framework of InnoFest, summits and forums, robotics competitions, eSports tournaments, innovations, startup contests, exhibitions, technoparties with the participation of global organizations, companies and influential persons and a concert with the famous singers.
Thus, the Monex Summit, held annually in three regions in Europe, the Middle East and CIS, will be held in Baku from May 30 to June 1 this year.
The summit will be organized as part of Innovation Festival jointly with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Heydar Aliyev Center, Financial Market Supervisory Authority and official support of the Central Bank, American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (AmCham) and FA International Trade Events.
The event will bring together most important leaders in financial technology and banking industry.
More than 300 local and foreign companies, over 70 speakers and some 50 representatives from around the world will take part in the event.
Monex Summit Caspian will be accompanied by a series of events such as exhibition, conference, marathon, gala night to be held at Heydar Aliyev Center and Monex Party with the participation of the world-famous singers.
The two-day event will feature financial technology leaders, C-level representatives, experts from giant banks of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia and Eastern Europe. They will exchange experience in Baku.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet with heads of global companies on payment, security, data and IT, participate in panel discussions and B2B meetings, and collaboration with startups and potential customers.
The First Azerbaijan Youth Internet Governance Forum will be held in our country from May 31 to June 3.
The event will be held as part of the InnoFest organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Azerbaijan Youth Foundation and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The main purpose of the Forum is to discuss and interpret the trends in the digital field by bringing together young people from Azerbaijan and the countries of the region.
The Forum is a platform for the local stakeholders to exchange experiences and collaborate with international experts, to discuss the current situation in this area, the tasks set and the integration into relevant international structures. The event is designed to bring together the youth community to discuss issues related to the internet and to organize multilateral dialogue with stakeholders.
The three-day event will be attended by young people between the ages of 17 and 29 from various countries.
Theoretical and practical training of the participants will be held within the Forum. At the end of the event, they will participate in a simulation game, which will be organized on a variety of topics.
Workshops on "Basic Principles of Internet Governance", "The Role of Social Media in Forming Young People’s Ideas" and "Business Opportunities of Internet for Youth - Implementation of Ideas" will be held within the forum.
Debates will also be organized on "How important is internet governance for sustainable development of young people?", "Global or specific internet – attitude of young people towards different values", "How to make the Internet safe for children and young people" and other topics.
The next workshop on the 4th ICT innovation and startup ecosystems will be held in Baku on May 29-30, 2019 within the framework of the Harmonization of the Digital Markets (HDM) initiative of the Eastern Partnership countries. The workshop will be attended by representatives of the European Commission, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and foreign experts.
The workshop will focus on formation of innovation and startup ecosystems in participating countries and experts will inform about best practices in Europe. In addition, projects of the Eastern Partnership countries to be jointly implemented in the direction of "ICT innovation and startup ecosystems" in 2019-2021 will be discussed.
It should be noted that since 2014, Harmonization of the Digital Markets (HDM) initiative is implemented within the framework of the platform "Economic integration and convergence with EU policies". The purpose of the HDM initiative is to support the development of digital economy and society in these countries by expanding the advantages of a digital single market to the Eastern Partnership countries. Our country at this initiative is represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.
Moreover, within the framework of the HDM initiative, a global event will be organized in Baku on March 31, 2019 by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and company Ernst & Young. The event will feature a presentation on six projects of EU4Digital program implemented by the European Commission-funded project "Ernst & Young" on projects to be implemented in Eastern Partnership countries in 2019-2021.
Representatives of the European Commission, Ernst & Young, representatives of state, private and public organizations working in the fields of e-commerce, electronic customs, digital trust and security, ICT innovation, e-learning, electronic healthcare will attend the event.
Forum "Made in Azerbaijan: Innovations and Technologies" (MAINTECH 2019) will be held on June 3 this year with the support and initiative of the State Fund for Development of Information Technologies under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.
The main purpose of the event is to promote the promotion of innovative and technological products and services and support their export. The event will feature presentations and discussions on the prospects for exporting local innovation products and technologies, the development of innovative business ecosystems, promotion of the products and services created by both private and public sector throughout the country. Representatives of government agencies, private sector, international organizations, foreign diplomatic corps, as well as participants of innovation ecosystem, startups and representatives from foreign countries are expected to attend the forum.
The InnoFest Village to be set up in the park of Heydar Aliyev Center will feature Robopark Pavilion which will demonstrate innovative products and services, innovative startups, VR games, drones, robots, training facilities, entertainment zone by the Innovation Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies.
With a view to contributing to the development of innovative IT engineers and increasing interest in this area from an early age, Mars Academy will present information on educational programs STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) in the pavilion consisting of several zones.
The goal of the program is to assist young people who reach vocational level to train in different professions and make the right choice.
In addition, a mobile clinic will be operating in the entertainment zone owned by Azercell to provide interactive games, company services, as well as internet security information, free diagnostics of teeth and eyes.
Mobile Dental and Mobile Eye Clinics is equipped with necessary modern medical equipment. The aim of the project is to prevent dental and eye diseases of children deprived of parental care, elderly and poor families deprived of parental care and to ensure their comprehensive examination. People who apply to the clinic will be examined by professional ophthalmologists, experts and will be given necessary advice.
Furthermore, winners of the drawing competition "Future", dedicated to the International Children’s Day held by Azemarka LLC under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, will also be announced at InnoFest Village.
The winner of the first place will receive a prize of 300AZN, the second – 200 AZN, the third – 100 AZN. Postage stamps will be prepared from the drawings of the winners and be put into circulation.
The results of the three-day startup competition held within the framework of the project "From Idea to Business" covering higher education institutions in Baku, will be announced at the Baku Final held in Heydar Aliyev Center as part of the InnoFest.
Thus, projects NanoDesal, AntiAge Juice, HealWith, Boomerang, AgroShare, Plan to Plant, Game of War and Modern Technologies, Palliative Care, and Chameleon will struggle to become winner.
The finalists were qualified for the finals at the startup marathon held at ADA University. Over the past period they have improved their projects with experts.
At the final stage, which will be held on June 2, the finalists’ projects will be evaluated by the jury of experts according to criteria such as uniqueness of idea, market potential, the period of return on investment, the time required to develop a preliminary service / prototype, the ability of the team to implement the idea.
The winning teams together with the winners from 12 regions will be given the right to participate in the summer camp Innocamp that will be held in late August. This year’s winners of the project "From Idea to Business" in the summer camp will participate in the preparatory trainings for the finals with the support of mentors, representatives of business incubation centers, as well as psychologists.
Winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be determined in the National Finals to be held in October.
The winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the National Finals will be provided with financial support by the organizers and partners to turn their ideas into business.
Finalists and winners of the first places in each region will get a chance to present their projects to investors and participants at the 25th Anniversary Azerbaijan International Telecommunications, Innovations and High Technologies Exhibition Bakutel 2019 to be held in December.
The 3rd Robot Olympiad among teens and young adults aged 8 to19 will be held on June 4, 2019 at Heydar Aliyev Center as part of the InnoFest with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, organized jointly with Azerbaijan Robotics and Engineering Academy and the Public Association Center for Education, Training and Youth Development.
It should be noted that in 2017, Azerbaijan became a full member of the World Robot Olympiad Association.
Note that the World Robot Olympiad, which is the biggest competition of robotics, has been held annually since 2004 in different countries on various topics. The Olympiad held for the first time in Singapore with the participation of 12 countries today this number exceeds 70.
In Azerbaijan, the Robot Olympiad was first held in 2017. 22 teams from 10 educational institutions participated in this competition then, and 54 teams from 22 educational institutions participated in the competition organized in Baku Sports Palace on October7, 2018. The teams that won in four categories in both competitions took part in the final stage of the World Robot Olympiad in Costa Rica in 2017 and in Thailand in 2018 with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Furthermore, Azerbaijani final of the International DronTech Olympiad (DronTech) will be held at Heydar Aliyev Center in partnership with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and Robopark and with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports by Azerbaijan Robotics and Engineering Academy.
25 students aged 7 to 12 years from public and private secondary schools of Baku and Sumgayit took part in the competition. The competition was held in three categories: Drone Race, Drone Football and Drone Challenge.
Participants who took the first 3 places in each category will be awarded certificates and valuable gifts.
The winners will receive a certificate of the first drone pilot in Azerbaijan.

On June 1, with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Heydar Aliyev Center’s partnership, Azerbaijan eSports Federation will organize a tournament on two types of games (PES 2019) on the playstation platform.
Persons over 15 years of age can take part in the tournament.
32 participants selected earlier will compete in each type of game for the championship in the tournament, which will be held at Heydar Aliyev Center on June 1, 2019.
Winners will be determined following the games that will be held on the Olympic system.
Winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes.
TechFest will be held in Baku for the first time with the support of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and Mars Academy. TechFest Bakı is designed for those who are in the spirit of "create yourself" ("create together") and who want to share their achievements with the Azerbaijani people.
TechFest Bakı offers local manufacturers ample opportunities to showcase their products, participate in master classes and present their projects to the international jury.
Following all these global events to be held as part of InnoFest, the world-famous singer Inna will give a concert at Elektra Events Hall on May 31 at the Monex Caspian summit.
