Jetson Laser of the Pentagon has a laser that can identify people from a distance—by their heartbeat

Recently, U.S. Special Forces have created Jetson Laser that can detect an individual’s cardiac signature from a certain distance using an IR. Moreover, it can work from a 200-meter distance. Check out this article to know its features.

The new laser has improved its latest version which can cover a longer distance. Besides, it can identify the person even through his clothes. However, it was first decided to be used to identify ISIS terrorists. As we all know, the heartbeat of each person is different. It cannot be disguised or altered like gait and faces.

The Pentagon recently created a new device that can identify people without seeing their face. The device uses an infrared laser to detect the unique cardiac signature of a person. Moreover, it can cover a distance of 219 yards and more.

A doctor uses contact infrared sensors to record the pulse rate of the patient. The developers have taken this idea to use it in Jetson Laser. Also, this device uses laser vibrometry technique to identify the movement caused by heartbeat.

The developer’s team also created algorithms that has an ability to note down cardiac signature obtained from the laser signals. As per the claims, Jetson Laser offers 95% of accurate data if it is kept in good condition.

Also, the device would include facial recognition and other identification techniques. However, Wenyao Xu from the State University of New York at Buffalo says that cardiac identification method is far better and stable than facial recognition.
