The Baku launch will be the first stage of the system. The second and third stages envision the system's spread over the Absheron peninsula and all major highways and roads of the country. Once all three stages are implemented, the system will be managed from a Baku-based center.
The project's value has increased as some of the system's functions have been upgraded in compliance with the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution assuming a series of measures to prevent acts of terror. The value of the project increased by $19 million from the initial sum of $77 million.
The changes provide an increase of videoed traffic and its registration. In addition, the number of information terminals has been increased from 300 to 664. As part of the works, the number of boards to be installed at Baku streets will be increased from 20 to 48.
The system envisages creation of some 639 bus stops (platforms) and some 140 taxi stops. These works are being done jointly with the Road Police of Azerbaijan and Korean specialists who contribute to the creation of the intellectual system. The intellectual system envisions installation of some 150 new, digital-type traffic lights.
Transport Ministry completes works on transport intellectual management system
A transport intellectual management system will be launched in Baku this December, Transport Minister of Azerbaijan Ziya Mammadov told journalists. He said works over creation of the system near completion. Computer software is getting loaded inside the system.The Baku launch will be the first stage of the system.
