Today is the 45th anniversary of the creation of the Data Processing Center (DPC) of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
If you look at the long path traveled by the center from the start of its activity (July 5, 1974) to this day, you will see that the DPC, which has professional staff potential, has achieved great success. And today it is safe to say that the Data Processing Centre has become one of the country's advanced and developed enterprises in the ICT field.
The DPC plays an exceptional role in the development of the information society in Azerbaijan, as well as the creation of e-governance. Thus, the foundation for building e-government in the country was laid by local specialists from the Data Processing Centre.
The DPC is also an enterprise ensuring the activity of the National Certification Services Center (root center) for electronic signature in the country on the basis of legislation. Presently, the National Certification Services Center issues electronic signatures to government agencies, legal entities, entrepreneurs, and citizens. Much work has also been done on the mutual recognition of electronic signatures. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies is already in talks on this issue with the relevant agencies of Turkey, Belarus, Iran, Qatar and Ukraine. Work is underway in the country to develop e-services and e-commerce, and standards are being developed for eIDAS, e-commerce and other areas.
At present, the Data Processing Centre is confidently moving towards such strategic goals as electronization of the country, strengthening Azerbaijan’s positions in the virtual sphere, research and implementation of high technologies, strengthening the country’s basic and human capacity in the field of information technologies.
The DPC has so far achieved a number of successes. The social projects that have been implemented by the center and are benefiting the society have repeatedly attracted the attention of the country's public and media representatives. Among them are many projects that have achieved success on an international scale. The project “Talking Library”, which won an award in the nomination “Champion Project” at the World Summit on the Information Society of the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva (Switzerland), can be cited as an example. This project was prepared by specialists from the Data Processing Center with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and was submitted to an international competition under the brand “Made in Azerbaijan”.
It seems fair to say that the main field of the DPC’s activity covers all areas of information technology.
Along with the implementation of important projects, training of national personnel in the field of ICT has always been a priority for the center.
The Data Processing Center, which thanks to many years of experience and professionalism, has become Microsoft's Silver Partner, has international quality certificates ISO 9001: 2015 and ISO 27001: 2013 (ISO 27001: 2005-2014). And this is particularly important for the center’s participation in major projects.
The Data Processing Centre, rapidly moving toward its goals, is confident that it will be able to further strengthen its position among the leaders in the ICT field.
