Let me congratulate you, the participants of the 17th BakuTel-2011 Azerbaijan International Exhibition and Conference, on this massive event.
The participation of 250 companies from 32 countries in this year’s exhibition and conference is vivid evidence of the assessment the world’s ICT communities are giving to this event.
This annual international exhibition and conference held in our country creates enables countries to exchange their experience in developing information societies, identify the directions of cooperation, present advanced technologies and expand business ties among companies.
The government of Azerbaijan is paying great attention to the development of the ICT sector. Since 2003, the country has adopted a strategy on the ICT development and several state programs, developed a legal framework, carried out appropriate reforms and, as a result, created a modern ICT market that has a normal competitive environment and receives major investment.
Our country is actively involved in regional and international ICT projects. The examples of such projects include the Transnational-Eurasian Information Super Highway, the high-speed information network Europe-Middle East.
I believe that 17th BakuTel-2011 Azerbaijan International Exhibition and Conference of Telecommunications and Information Technologies will provide a favorable environment for the demonstration of modern technological advances, joint discussions among representatives of companies, government and public organizations, scientists and engineers, help establish business relations, develop regional and international cooperation and facilitate closer familiarization with Azerbaijan.
