This tool makes it possible to detect traces of image editing even if they were created by artificial intelligence. The description of the project says that it is an experimental platform designed to simplify the combat against disinformation. The service consists of seven “detectors” developed on the basis of self-learning neural networks, each of which is designed to determine a specific type of photo manipulation technique. So, these tools are able to detect fusion of images, the presence of repeating objects in the photo, and color anomalies. Several instruments developed by the Jigsaw team detect high-tech fakes created using artificial intelligence.
American scientists from the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Maryland, the University of Naples (Italy) and the US National Institute of Standards and Technology worked on the project.
