Azerbaijan UNESCO IFAP Committee holds its regular meeting

The Azerbaijani Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme (IFAP) has today held its regular meeting. The event was attended by employees of government agencies represented in the National Committee, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population, State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, State Tourism Agency, National Archives Administration, Azerbaijan  National Academy of Sciences, Science Development Fund and Intellectual Property Agency, as well as representatives of NGOs and universities.
 
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Azerbaijan IFAP Committee, head of the innovations and digital development department of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Rashad Azizov made a presentation. Noting the importance of the IFAP Programme in terms of popularization and propaganda of Azerbaijan abroad, he spoke about the programme, its goals and priority areas. He said that the IFAP is a unique intergovernmental UNESCO programme established in 2001. The main goal of the IFAP is to support UNESCO member countries in developing a national information policy, preparing and implementing a knowledge strategy, as well as creating a platform for developing action plans in the field of obtaining information and knowledge and international political discussions and cooperation.
 
Then the Chairman of the National Committee provided information on the work done in 2019 under the Action Plan for 2019-2021 by the Azerbaijani Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme and the challenges ahead.
 
It was noted that the Action Plan covers 6 priority issues – “Information accessibility”, “Information for development”, “Information ethics”, “Information literacy”, “Information Preservation” and “Multilingualism in Cyberspace”.
 
Representatives of structure members of the National Committee and public organizations spoke about the work done under the Action Plan. It was reported that the Action Plan identified 35 measures, and 76% of them have already been implemented.
 
At the meeting, the website of the UNESCO Information for All Programme  (www.ifap.az) was also presented.
