Yandex has launched a multimedia platform for smart TVs, a company representative told vc.ru.
The platform combined different sources of content in one interface – on-air TV channels, Yandex.Afira channels, Kinopoisk HD online cinema and YouTube. In the integrated application store, you can also connect online cinemas ivi, Megogo, Okko, Twigl and TVzavr.
You can find a movie or video using voice search without switching between content sources – by name, genre or actor. The main screen will display recent channels and recommended movies and videos.
The multimedia platform has already been preinstalled on Dexp televisions, when buying such devices in DNS stores, the buyer will receive a three-month subscription to Yandex.Plus, the Internet company said.
In the future, the platform will appear on devices Hyundai, Leff, AMCV, Yuno and other brands. It works based on the open version of the Android Open Source Project.
In Russia, the demand for smart TVs with high screen resolution is growing, Vedomosti reported in November 2019 with reference to data from retailers. In January-September 2019, 4.4 million televisions were sold on the Russian market, half of them with Smart TV system.
