Just like the Mi 10 Lite, the Mi 10 Youth Edition for China comes with a waterdrop AMOLED display upfront and a rectangular camera housing at the back. The camera housing has curved corners which sets it apart from other rectangular camera designs and the back is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
Xiaomi is marketing the Mi 10 Youth as a lightweight and compact 5G smartphone for China. The phone measures just 7.88mm in thickness and weigh 192 grams. This is quite respectable given the large 4160mAh battery inside.
The Mi 10 Youth 5G will come in five colors – White, Peach, Blue, Black, and Mint Green. There’s also a special Doraemon limited edition.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth model comes with a 6.57-inch Pentile AMOLED display – same as the international Mi 10 Lite 5G edition. This display supports HDR10+, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and 800 nits of peak brightness.
The Mi 10 Youth is powered by the 5G integrated Snapdragon 765G processor and comes with liquid cooling. You can choose between 6GB and 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of ROM. As mentioned above, the phone support SA/NSA 5G, making it yet another affordable 5G option in the Chinese smartphone market.
The main difference between the Chinese Mi 10 Youth Edition and the international Mi 10 Lite edition is in the camera department. The Youth model features an upgraded 48MP quad-camera setup which includes a capable telephoto sensor. The camera setup on the Youth edition is as follows:
50x telephoto zoom camera with 5X optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom (15mm – 122mm focal length)
48MP high-resolution primary camera
120° ultra-wide-angle camera
2cm Macro camera.
The international Lite model doesn’t have a telephoto shooter and features a 2MP depth sensor as its fourth camera. In a sense, the Chinese Mi 10 Youth can be regarded as the Mi 10 Lite Zoom edition.
Xiaomi added that the Mi 10 Youth Edition comes with all of the camera features of the flagship Mi 10 series. This includes 12 new filters for the popular AI sky replacement feature, AI Magic Kaleidoscope, AI Magic Avatar (clone mode), AI Magic Emoji, dual-view mode (using front and back cameras simultaneously), and even the AI + AR algorithms used on the Mi 10 cameras.
There’s a 16MP front camera taking care of your selfie needs.
The Mi 10 Youth comes with a 4160mAh battery and supports 22.5W fast charging technology. It features NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, infrared, dual-frequency GPS, Hi-Res Audio, and 0.91cc speakers.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Youth 5G pricing is as follows:
6GB RAM + 64GB ROM – 2099 Yuan ($296)
6GB RAM + 128GB ROM – 2299 Yuan ($325)
8GB RAM + 128GB ROM – 2499 Yuan ($353)
8GB RAM + 256GB ROM – 2799 Yuan ($395).
You can pre-order the Mi 10 Youth in China right now. The first sale kicks off on April 30 via online and offline stores.
Xiaomi will also offer a number of cool cases for the Youth edition starting at 39 Yuan (~$6).
