At the virtual event, which took place with the participation of the representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the member states, Azerbaijan was represented by employees of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations and the Regional Innovative Technologies Academy.
The event discussed the implementation of the strategy for the development of sectoral cooperation of GUAM, adopted by the GUAM Council of the Heads of State at the Baku Summit (June 18-19, 2007) and determining the main directions of cooperation within the organization in relevant areas.
Discussions were also held on further development of cooperation between member countries in the field of information technologies, exchange of experience in the development of the digital economy and information society, as well as innovation ecosystems.
The meeting participants were informed in detail about the measures taken by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide citizens with high-quality and uninterrupted transport, postal and telecommunication services, including internet and mobile communications.
It should be noted that this year our country is chairing GUAM, an international regional organization founded by Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Cooperation in the field of transport and trade, ICT, small and medium-sized businesses, energy, tourism and a number of other areas were adopted as priorities of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship within the organization. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was not possible to implement a number of activities planned in March-April this year under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship in the organization.
