The meeting was organized to discuss AmCham’s proposals in connection with the improvement of legislation on the processing and protection of personal data.
The video event was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade, Board Member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan Rufat Hajialibeyli, members of the AmCham Personal Data Working Group, as well as representatives of international and local organizations.
Speaking at the meeting, Elmir Velizade spoke on a new draft law prepared in our country taking into account the impact of changes in European legislation in the field of personal data on other countries: “The draft law was prepared by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies by a working group composed of representatives of relevant government agencies. To this end, the working group studied international experience in the field of personal data and developed a new draft law “On personal data”. The new draft law took into account the mechanisms of applying European and international experience in national legislation.”
An employee of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Vugar Hasanov made a presentation on the new draft law. Detailed information was provided on the innovations provided for in the draft law, including new concepts and articles. It was noted that AmCham’s proposals were reflected in the draft law.
During the discussions, answers were given to the questions from members of participating organizations about licensing, certification in the field of personal data, cross-border transfer of personal data, consent of entities to the processing of their personal data, types of liabilities, etc.
In conclusion, thanking for the organization of the meeting, AmCham expressed its readiness to provide appropriate assistance in promoting further cooperation in the field of personal data.
