From Azerbaijani side, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the People’s Republic of China.
Alibaba Group was represented by Senior Director of the Globalization Office Sami Farhad, Director of International Government and Public Affairs Department Laurie Luo, Deputy Director and General Manager of Digital Public Sector Shi Feng, and Deputy Director of Foreign Relations, Tmall Import and Export Tony Chen.
Speaking at the video event, the Minister stressed the importance of establishing and developing cooperation with Alibaba Group.
Providing information about the development of the internet in our country, Ramin Guluzade said that various projects are being implemented in Azerbaijan to develop the information society, increase the ICT knowledge of the population and promote the use of electronic services.
“At the same time, the concept of Government Cloud (G-Cloud) was adopted by the Decree of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan about creation a Government Cloud (G-cloud) and measures in the field of providing cloud services,” said Ramin Guluzade.
The Minister said that since 2016, Azerpost LLC has been implementing a regional transit postal center (HUB) project to implement international e-commerce. Within the framework of the project, since 2016, e-commerce products ordered by Azerpost LLC from the People’s Republic of China have been received by Azerbaijan’s Silk Way Airlines and delivered to our country, processed as mail and delivered to CIS and other countries.
During the meeting, discussions were held on opportunities for cooperation in the establishment of logistics and relevant warehousing infrastructure in Azerbaijan, data center and cloud infrastructure, e-commerce and other areas, as well as an agreement was reached to establish a working group on cooperation.
A representative of Alibaba Group made a presentation on Alibaba Group’s Cloud Computing and Tmall.com divisions.
It should be noted that Alibaba Group provides sales services from consumer to consumer (C2C), from business to consumer (B2C) and from business to business (B2B) through web portals, including e-payment services, search engines and cloud computing services.
