The forum was attended by government agencies, the private sector, as well as participants of the innovation ecosystem, startuppers and representatives of foreign countries.
Delivering an opening address at the event, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade said that the state supports research and development programs related to the creation and development of new products or production technologies for export, local companies in reception of certificates and obtaining patents abroad.
“Appropriate conditions are created by our state for the promotion of non-oil products under the name Made in Azerbaijan, participation in international exhibitions and fairs with a single national stand, and similar activities. Tax and customs exemptions are also applied to exports. All this increases the competitiveness of our country,” said the Deputy Minister.
Noting that the Azerbaijani government has taken significant steps to expand innovative activities in our country, Elmir Velizade said that a strategy for the country’s innovative development has been prepared. He noted that various events are held to promote innovations, such as Innovation Week, Innovation Festival, “I2B – From Idea to Business”.
Head of the Department of the Innovations and Digital Development Department of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Rashad Azizov made a presentation on the development of artificial intelligence in the Republic of Azerbaijan at the second event of the forum “Artificial Intelligence”.
According to him, currently there are about 15 companies in the country that provide consulting services and research in various fields of artificial intelligence. Noting that 60 countries in the world have national strategies, policies and initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence, Rashad Azizov said that only 40 countries have developed national strategies, approved in the form of a separate document.
Information was provided about the project implemented within the eSAS Volunteer Program to accelerate and support the development of artificial intelligence for speech recognition in the Azerbaijani language, as well as for the development of various types of large databases on a panel co-organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, Regional Development Public Association and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The event included discussions on the current situation in the field of artificial intelligence, the development of strategies and goals for artificial intelligence.
It should be noted that the main purpose of the Forum “Made in Azerbaijan: Innovations and Technologies” is to promote innovative and technological products and services and support their export.
