The added services include regions, cities and territorial units of Azerbaijan. They also reflect the coordinates of railways, rivers, lakes, national parks, highways, their types (trunk, rural, urban), coordinates of the location of forest areas, geographical names, facilities (government agencies and organizations, private enterprises, hotels, training centers, etc.).
The database of new services was provided by the Department of Geodesy and Cartography of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS), and technical and software support was provided by Data Processing Center of the MTCHT.
These services are of exceptional importance in terms of the use of the map of the Republic of Azerbaijan in international digital platforms, mobile applications and startups, and also serve the proper use of geographic names and place names of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The use of geographic data on the Open Data Portal will not only prevent falsification of electronic maps by Armenians, but also make Azerbaijani place names recognizable in the world.
Through the opendata.az portal, the individuals concerned, including programmers and startuppers can easily find, download and use the dataset created by government agencies. The portal contains a description of the datasets of government agencies, as well as information on how to find access to the dataset and additional resources.
The services are updated on a constant basis. We invite users to follow the electronic portal opendata.az to keep abreast of the latest innovations.
Eleven geographic services added to Open Data Portal
The reliable official source for electronic maps – opendata.az has been improved. Geographic data sets have been added to the Open Data Portal (opendata.az), created by the Data Processing Center (DPC) of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies (MTCHT). Eleven geographic services of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources have been added to the portal. The DPC has developed Application Programming Interface (API) services associated with these services.
