When developing the gaming version of the Redmi K40, the manufacturer set out to create a universal device that would be equally well suited for games and everyday use. Therefore, it looks quite common against the background of other gaming smartphones. In addition, at just 8.3mm thin, it is much thinner than the competition, and the bottom bezel is only 2.7mm wide. Its gaming nature is given only by discreet LED backlighting around the main camera unit and a flash in the form of a lightning.
The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition features a flat 6.67-inch OLED display with Full HD + resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The sampling layer of the touch layer is 480 Hz, which provides a quick response to touch. For more precise and convenient control in games on the right side there are retractable physical trigger buttons. To lift them out of the case and activate them, you need to move two special levers. According to the manufacturer, these triggers are guaranteed to withstand 1.5 million clicks. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 tempered glass is used on the front and back.
The smartphone is built on the basis of the flagship processor MediaTek Dimensity 1200, made using a 6nm process technology. In AnTuTu, the device scores 724,495 points. The battery is responsible for autonomy with a capacity of 5065 mAh with support for fast 67-watt charging, which can fully replenish energy in 42 minutes. The corresponding adapter is included in the package with a proprietary USB Type-C cable with an L-shaped plug so that it does not interfere with holding the smartphone while playing.
The smartphone comes with a 64-megapixel main camera with the industry’s first ultra-low dispersion optical glass lens to reduce glare and let more light into the sensor. In addition, there is an 8-megapixel module with a 120-degree ultra wide-angle lens and a macro camera with a resolution of 2 megapixels.
Other highlights include JBL-tuned stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and a keyboard app developed in collaboration with renowned gamer manufacturer Razer. The presence of NFC is also indicated.
The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will go on sale on April 30 and will be available in a variety of configurations:
