According to the latest forecast from Gartner, global spending on technologies and services related to information security and risk management will grow by 12.4% this year to reach $ 150.4 billion. Last year, the growth of these expenses was 6.4%. According to Gartner experts, the increase in growth rates reflects the strong demand for the designated technologies due to the proliferation of cloud services and the increase in the number of remote workers.
Cybersecurity is the top priority in new spending, according to this year’s Gartner survey of senior IT executives, with 61% of the more than 2,000 CIOs surveyed this year increasing investments in information security.
Security services, including consulting, hardware support, implementation and outsourcing, represent the largest spending category in 2021, valued at nearly $ 72.5 billion.
In second place are spending on infrastructure protection, projected at $ 23.9 billion. It is noteworthy that in this segment the largest cost growth is forecasted – by 16.8%. The third largest expense item is network security equipment. All over the world, $ 17.0 billion will be allocated for it, although in terms of growth this segment is inferior to the market as a whole. Network security equipment spending is expected to rise 8.9% year-over-year.
