Cabinet of Ministers approved the Rules on Registration of mobile devices

All mobile phones and other mobile devices will be registered in Azerbaijan.Cabinet of Ministers approved the Rules on Registration of mobile devices.

This action purposes to provide the fulfilment of “Complex Action Plan on prevention of cases on wrong information about terrorism”. All available mobile devices will registered in the registration system of mobile devices.

This system is installed by Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies and telecommunication networks of mobile operators connect with it.

According to decision, several indicators will be included in this system. These indicators include IMEI codes, mobile network number, SIM card, as well affirmation code of mobile device type. According to rules, the registered phones will be categorized. White page will include registered devices, black page – unregistered devices.

Under the rules, the operators have to limit the services for unregistered devices.Rules say the mobile devices of which the IMEI codes are in the white page are only used via phone numbers which they accord to.

Who imports mobile phone to Azerbaijan for private usage, he/she will have to apply to registration centre or customer service of mobile operators or post offices. These rules also include devices sent via posts.

If it is determined that, the IMEI number is in the white page or was copied, that number is immediately included in black page. The applicant is sent official information. While it is in use, the user will receive short message by operator.

Operators limit the function of mobile devices which are in black page. According t new rules, the person whose mobile phone lost and was stolen can apply to registration centre to limit its usage.According to decision, the registration will start after installation of this system.
