New equipment is being installed in TV stations in Gusar, Tovuz and Khachmaz regions. 12 TV channels have been switched to digital broadcasting. Work will continue in this direction on a stage-by-stage basis. Certain measures will be taken to increase the number of digital TV channels.
In future, a commercial package consisting of 50-60 TV channels will be offered to the population. Digital content is broadcasted according to MPEG-4 standard. The television sets, which don’t accept this digital standard, must be fitted with decoders.
90 percent of residential areas in Azerbaijan covered with digital TV
90 percent of residential areas in Azerbaijan have been covered with digital TV. This information was provided by technical director of Teleradio Production Unit Mikayil Abbasov.
