“Azərmarka” issues stamps dedicated to Nakhichevan
Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry released series of stamps dedicated to the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic. One of the stamps with nominal price of 60 kopecks and circulation of 100,000 copies has description of Heydar Aliyev Palace in Nakhichevan on it. The other two stamps, attached to each other in a sheet of 10 copies, are dedicated to the 130-th anniversary of a prominent statesman and diplomat, Behbud aga Shakhtakhtinsky, and 90-th anniversary of Kars agreement signed in 1921. The post sheet was issued with circulation of 5,000 copies. Behbud aga Shakhtakhtinsky rendered great services to his country by dispelling ungrounded territorial claims made by Armenians against Azerbaijan, including Nakhichevan. In 1918-1921 Behbud aga Shakhtakhtinsky sent letters to the Russian Government, in which he expressed his concerns about future of Nakhichevan, Zangezur and Upper-Karabakh. In 1921 Behbud aga Shakhtakhtinsky participated as an authorized representative of Azerbaijan in the negotiations held between Turkey and Russia in Kars and Moscow.Views: 947
