The first meeting of the Regional Group for Eastern Europe and the CIS region of the 3rd Research Commission of the Standardization Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has been held in Baku within the exhibition and conference Bakutel 2015.
The event organized by the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies was attended by the representatives of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC), as well as the representatives of the communications administrations of Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Russia. The participants of the meeting discussed the methods of determination of the amounts of payments for roaming services that are being provided with the use of logistics systems in the mobile networks of different countries. It was noted that there is a need to establish an expert group to address the issue.
“The volume of cargo transported by different vehicles in various directions has increased by several times. And logistics systems installed in vehicles switch from one mobile network to another. In this context, the system of tariffication of mobile communication services needs to be reviewed.”
The participants of the meeting also discussed issues connected with the application of OTT (Over the Top) services in RCC member countries and the identification of prefixes and indexes of phone numbers being used in mobile and fixed networks. Towards the end of the meeting, it was decided to prepare recommendations in this area.
