Azerbaijan also ranked the 53rd in the world for the average price of the ICT services amongst the 152 countries worldwide.
According to ITU, the average price of ICT services in Azerbaijan totaled 1.8 percent of GDP per capita. Price of ICT services in Azerbaijan in 2010 decreased significantly compared with 2008, when it totaled 9.9 percent of GDP per capita.
The ICT prices included the average cost of services in the fixed telephony, mobile communications and broadband Internet access. ICT prices in 2010 in Azerbaijan for fixed telephone services accounted for 0.6 percent of GDP per capita (in 2008 this figure was 0.8 percent).
Last year, the cost of portable communications telephony was 1.7 percent of GDP per capita, or 0.5 percent more as compared to 2008.
Broadband services in 2010 in Azerbaijan accounted for 3.1 percent, which is 23.6 percent less than 2008. Over the past two years, Azerbaijan has made significant improvements on the IDI index in both absolute and relative terms.
The sharpest decline in prices for ICT services was recorded in Azerbaijan in 2008-2010. Relative price level declined by more than 50 percent.
Azerbaijan ranks 53rd for average ICT service price worldwide
Azerbaijan rose by nine positions from 83rd to 74th place in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Statistics of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), says Measuring the Information Society 2011 report published on the website of the ITU.Azerbaijan also ranked the 53rd in the world for the average price of the ICT services amongst the 152 countries worldwide.
