The winners of the national stage of the international epistolary essay contest among schoolchildren have been named

Azerpost LLC of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies jointly with the Ministry of Education held the next epistolary essay contest among schoolchildren with the support of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).  3 topics were presented for the contest by the above-stated organisations.

The first topic “Write a letter to your future self of 45 years old” (for schoolchildren under 15) was presented by UPU.  The second topic “Mother tongue "(B.Vagabzade) and the third topic “My favourite literary characters” were presented by Azerpost LLC and the Ministry of Education, respectively.

30 essays were selected as winners from a total of 35,600 essays that took part in the national stage of the 45th international epistolary essay contest. 

The winners of the contest were awarded money prizes as follows:

1st place - 3 people – AZN 150 each (1 for each topic);

2nd place - 6 people – AZN 100 each (6 people for each topic);

3rd place - 9 people - AZN 100 each (9 people for each topic);

Consolation prize - 12 people - 50 AZN each (12 people for each topic).

All the winners were awarded with diplomas.

Thus, the first place was taken by Gular Mehdiyev, a student of X «ç» class of the Lyceum Complex of Narimanov district of Baku; Shirin Shukurov, a student of X «ç» class of secondary school No. 236 of Sabail district of Baku; Gurbanova Ayshen, a student of X class of secondary school No. 2 of Dash Salahli village in Gazakh region.

Along with school pupils from Baku, school pupils from different regions of the county took part in the contest.   

The essays that won the contest on the topic presented by UPU will be translated into English language and sent to the organisation on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
