The journal was founded in 2002 by the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies, Scientific Research Institute of Applied Mathematics of Baku State University and Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. The journal’s editorial board consists of famous scientists from around 20 countries of the world. The journal, published three times a year, covers the latest scientific findings in the areas of modern theoretical and applied mathematics.
It is praiseworthy that the impact factor of the journal, which is published with the support of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies, has increased to 0,717 and that the journal has entered the top-three in the CIS region and the top-five in Eastern Europe, according to the latest rating by Thomson Reuters Agency. This fact can be viewed as the recognition and acceptance of the Azerbaijani science in the world.

The Institute for Scientific Information of Thomson Reuters Agency, which is located in Philadelphia, the US, and considered to be the most reliable system of scientific evaluation in the world, has released a report for 2015. The list of the world's top scientific journals was published in one of the sections of the report.
