Azerpost once again awarded with UTU's Gold-Level EMS Certificate
A delegation from the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies took part in the 26th Universal Postal Congress, held in Istanbul, Turkey. 192 member states were represented at the congress, which was organised jointly by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and the Post and Telegraph Organisation of Turkey.
The congress already held its first meetings on September 19-20. During the two-day session of the General Assembly of EMS (Express Mail Service) of the UPU, the results of evaluation of provision of EMS services in different countries of the world in 2015 were revealed and the countries that had displayed high results in this area were awarded.
It is praiseworthy that Azerbaijan once again was awarded with the UTU's Gold-Level EMS Certificate. Director General of the UPU Bishar Hussein presented the certificate to the representative of Azerbaijan. Note that the congress, which is the supreme organ of the Universal Postal Union, is held every four years.
During the first two weeks of the congress, proposals presented to the congress by various commissions will be discussed and decisions will be made. During the third week of the congress, the meeting of ministers will take place and elections to the Council of Administration and the Postal Operations Council will be held. Note that Azerbaijan is candidate member of both councils. During the last day of the congress, the Universal Postal Strategy, which is considered the main road map of the UPU, will be signed.
The new document, intended for the period of 2017-2020, will be titled the Istanbul Postal Strategy, given that the congress was held in Turkey.
