The Protocol mentioned the importance of accelerating the work of laying an underwater fiber optic cable line Siyazan (Azerbaijan) and Kinderli (Kazakhstan) in accordance with previously signed protocol of intention between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan and the Agency for Informatization and Communications of Kazakhstan.
The Commission instructed the communications administrations of both countries to continue measures to build a fiber optic cable line under the Caspian Sea with the participation of the Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan's international telecommunications operators, as well as to consider at the next meeting of the commission the issue of participation of both countries' communications operators in Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway Project (TASIM).
Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan also have a protocol signed between the Centre of International Relations of Azerbaijan's Communications Ministry and Kazakhstan's KazTransCom, according to which 50 percent of the cost of laying cable line will be covered by Azerbaijan and 50 percent by Kazakhstan.
The length of the route between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan will be about 380 kilometers. Currently, the existing route passes through Turkmenistan and Iran, bypassing the territory of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan to cooperate in joint IT projects
