A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the only satellite operator in South Caucasus, Azercosmos, and the Real Estate Cadaster and Address Registry Service under the State Committee on Property Issues during the event dedicated to "The usage of Space Surveillance satellite services in the creation of an electronic system of cadastral registration of land plots in Azerbaijan".
Under the Memorandum, the two organizations will cooperate in such areas as the development of ortophotos for periodic updating of electronic land cadastral registration data and the electronic cadastral database on land plots and residential areas with the use of images obtained from Azersky remote earth observation satellite, exercising control over unequivocal use of land plots, monitoring of the study of quantitative and qualitative changes in the indicators, protection of land resources, analysis of desertification and erosion of land (spectral analysis).
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev assigned Azercosmos OJSC with a task of creating new opportunities and prospects for the development of country using Azersky satellite resources.
Azercosmos OJSC is working with various government agencies in this field, and cooperation with the State Committee on Property plays an important role in this context.
It should be noted that cooperation between the two organizations in the field of electronic land registration and cadaster began last year. In 2016, Azercosmos OJSC provided the State Committee on Property with stereoscopic images to update cadastral data in Sumgait city.
Using these images, within a short period of time, the State Committee on Property identified new buildings and other changes that have been vectorized, field works were performed and obtained data was used to update electronic cadastral data registration system.
The Memorandum of Understanding will open up new opportunities for development of relations between the two organizations.
