It was the last workshop in a series of workshops that had been conducted by experts from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and the Regional Human Rights and Media Center Public Union in the regions of country with the aim of raising the e-government awareness of the local population.
The workshop was held as part of the "Promotion of Human Rights, Democratization and Good Governance in Azerbaijan" Program funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Director of Agdash State Humanitarian College Namik Mehdiyev spoke at the workshop. He told the gathering about the importance of digitalization for governance.
Expert from the Regional Human Rights and Media Center Public Union Khalid Kazimov informed the workshop participants about the aim of the project.
It was noted that civil control and public demand play an important role in the process of digitalization of rapidly developing social services.
Today, the works carried out in the field of e-government building provide sufficient resources for simplifying life dynamics and protecting civil rights.
The abundance and virtual availability of these resources for citizens are essential for the improvement of social welfare.
Legislative reforms are implemented consistently in this direction based on public use and opinion".
Stressing the importance of the E-government portal in this context, Khalid Kazimov noted that electronic services help citizens to save their time, money and energy.
Then, specialists from the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Gunay Huseynova and Elvin Jafarli provided the workshop participants with information about official documents relating to the application of ICT in various service areas, legislative base of the E-government portal, creation of the portal and the stages of its development, rules for using the E-government portal.
After that, tools for accessing the portal, services groups, most commonly used e-services and tools simplifying the use of the portal by citizens were tested before the workshop participants.
The workshop ended with a question-and-answer session and discussions.
The active participants of the workshop were given a username and code to access the portal.
