"At present, many telecommunications companies face capacity shortage in the direction of Europe-Asia. TASIM project will help to address these issues," Kislitsin said.
TASIM project has been initiated by Azerbaijan and designed to connect 20 countries in total. Its implementation will eliminate "information gap" between the countries of Western Europe and the Pacific basin.
According to Kislitsin, now member countries, as well as the Middle East, particularly Iran and Iraq display great attention to this project. As it is known Ukraine and Georgia expressed principle interest to this project.
Istanbul will host another working meeting on the TASIM project on Nov.2-3. The meeting is expected to discuss the business part of the project, particularly work on preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding for signing. "A memorandum of understanding on the project may be signed in late November," Kislitsin said.
In addition to KazTransCom, the project involves operators such as Russian Rostelecom, Turkish TurkTelecom and Chinese ChinaTelecom. All operators have proper support at the level of their governments.
In the project Azerbaijan is represented by the Center of International Relations and Calculations under the Azerbaijani Communication and IT Ministry.
